Curriculum |
Our integrated curriculum for the lower school grades 3-8 includes:
English: Intensive study of English including
composing, editing, writing for the audience,
vocabulary, reading, and grammar.
History: This year began with an overview of
world history and geography with the purpose of
tying history and geography together in a time
line type manner. It is taught in such a way that
the students can't wait to see what comes next.
This class is now studying Early American
History.
Math: Math is taught at each students
individual level. Each student whether they are
needing basic Math skills or Geometry receives
Math instruction designed specifically for them.
Science: This years curriculum included
Geology, Earth and Space, Biology, Chemistry
and the study of simple machines.
Foreign Language: Instead of teaching a
specific foreign language all year foreign
language is taught as an introduction to foreign
languages in general. This year we studied:
Italian, American Sign Language, Spanish, and
Egyptian Hieroglyphics.
Other weekly subject matter includes:
Music and music theory, technology and
computers, critical thinking, and study skills.
Physical education including Karate which is
taught weekly.
Specialized teachers are providing instruction
in Math, Science, Music, Technology and P.E.
This allows for the highest quality instruction in
these key areas.
